Ho West District Assembly Support Persons With Disabilities

The Ho West District Assembly has distributed items and cash worth 67,250.00 to twenty-six (26) Persons With Disability on 7th August, 2020 at the forecourt of the Assembly.

The beneficiaries made up of twelve (12) males and fourteen (14) females received items such as wheel chairs, deep freezers, soap making materials, shoe making materials, bale of second hand clothing, as well as support in Apprenticeship, medical care, petty trading, farming and animal husbandry.

In a brief speech, the Hon District Chief Executive, Hon Ernest Victor Apau indicated that the procured items are from the 3% deduction of the disability fund from the Assembly Common Fund. He reiterated that because beneficiaries cannot benefit from the fund twice, advised them to use the items and cash for it intended purpose to improve their livelihood. Hon. Apau also disclosed that the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit has donated hand washing items to some elderly people at Kpedze as part of supporting elderly citizens in the society.

The District Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Mr. Rolland Kumfu noted that during the monitoring exercise conducted by the department, some of the beneficiaries were not using the items to empower themselves. He indicated that monitoring of beneficiaries would be carried out to ascertain their level of improvement and therefore charged them to put the items to good use to enhance themselves.
